Niche news for retaining site traffic

How many exposures does it take to make a sale? Although there may be different answers given by different marketing firms, all marketing studies indicate that multiple exposures produce more sales than single exposures. The figure that I have heard most often is seven.

Try this experiment. Go to your favorite search engine and type this search query (include the quote marks) in the search box:
"seven exposures" buy

Now how do you get visitors to keep coming back to your website? By giving your target audience what they DESIRE.

One method of giving your audience what they desire is by providing a gateway to specialized news articles. Your target audience has very specific interests. If your website provides constantly changing links to niche articles, then your target audience will use your website as a tool for finding the news that they want.

For example: Hanscot is a stained glass artist and designer located in Hartford, WI. He designs both alfresco locales and interiors. His target audience is interested in landscaping, interior design and stained glass. He also looks for clients who appreciate the designs of the early twentieth century including the work of Frank Lloyd Wright.

On the right hand side of his website is a list of five headlines which are links to articles concerning the topics which interest his audience. Almost every day, one of these news links is removed and a new one takes its place. If you visit this website once a week, you will find five completely different news links each week.

Another example of a news gateway is named Driven By Success. Its audience is small business owners located in Metro Atlanta, GA. Every Thursday morning, there are a completely different set of news links available to this audience.

By offering your target audience access to the news that interests them, you increase the likelihood of having them return to your website.
